Cross-browser testing provider BrowserStack named Microsoft ‘partner of choice’

Software testing platform provider BrowserStack has announced a strategic partnership with Microsoft to support Visual Studio App Center users transitioning to BrowserStack device testing.

“Microsoft has chosen BrowserStack as its partner of choice to ensure a smooth and seamless migration for developers,” according to the vendor.

BrowserStack App Automate promotes its Real Device Cloud as a comprehensive, scalable solution covering off testing requirements for some 20,000 browser iterations for Android or iOS devices, it said.

This included testing, access to real device sensors, settings and default apps, secure network set-up, and security features to assist testing teams, according to BrowserStack, which has 19 datacentres worldwide supporting some two million tests a day.

“Additionally, BrowserStack has collaborated with Microsoft to simplify migration from Visual Studio App Center to App Automate with curated migration guides,” it added.

Visual Studio App Center offered integrated developer services for building, testing, releasing, and monitoring mobile and desktop apps, including iOS and Android.

But Microsoft Visual Studio App Center services are soon to be retired, so Microsoft’s partnership with BrowserStack should help provide an ongoing developer toolset, according to BrowserStack, which provides options for live app testing, cross-browser testing, accessibility testing, compliance, test automation as well as web testing and related observability solutions.

Tools like BrowserStack aim to help companies build and release better applications faster, testing across a multitude of browsers and devices to ensure functionality and compatibility.

According to the Gartner reviews website at the time of publishing this article, contributors rated BrowserStack higher in specific respects than alternatives from the likes of Selenium, Appium, Oracle, AWS, Sauce Labs, LambdaTest and Microsoft.
