TeamViewer wraps RMM, ISO compliance and IIoT moves in time for Christmas

Göppingen, Germany based remote connectivity company TeamViewer has rolled Lansweeper asset discovery and inventory tech into its own remote monitoring and management (RMM) offering, hard on the heels of two other announcements.

Frank Ziarno, vice president of product management at TeamViewer, said the move meant TeamViewer’s solution for IT admin at scale is now more comprehensive.

“This is a step forward in our commitment to simplifying IT management,” Ziarno said in the announcement.

Dave Goossens, chief executive at Lansweeper, said TeamViewer’s 600,000 or so customers will now have access to Lansweeper discovery and inventory technology. “Having an automated, always up-to-date inventory is crucial for efficient and cost-effective IT management.”

Lansweeper is about accurately mapping every device connected to the network, while the integration should improve risk management and compliance by better detecting unauthorised devices or non-compliant software, according to the TeamViewer announcement.

IT administrators will also be able to track warranty status and patch deployments from a unified dashboard that should streamline strategic planning and decision-making, it said.

TeamViewer’s flagship remote access application for the enterprise, TeamViewer Tensor, is geared towards enabling connectivity that permits remote access with control, management and maintenance over all endpoints.

The company in November announced qualifying for ISO 27001 certification for information security management systems processes and renewing its ISO 9001 certification for following recognised quality management principles.

Robert Haist, chief information security officer (CISO) at TeamViewer, said these certifications provide assurance that TeamViewer is committed to maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information for customers.

“Customers can trust that their data is managed in accordance with the highest security standards,” Haist said.

Known primarily for enterprise remote access via Tensor, TeamViewer has also stepped further into workplace digitisation. It just made two “strategic” investments in Sight Machine and Cybus for “a low double-digit million amount” in euros.

US-based Sight Machine‘s manufacturing data platform collects, structures, and analyses operations data, fuelling data-driven insights into areas such as quality control, system-level plant performance, and predictive maintenance.

Germany-based Cybus develops IIoT software for large factories that enables communication between heterogeneous devices, machines, and processes.

“The investments in Sight Machine and Cybus pave the way for TeamViewer’s development into a leading enterprise software provider at the intersection of manufacturing infrastructure and IT systems as well as data analytics,” according to the related announcement.
