Seniors-focused retailer saves with automated patch management from Automox

Damartex, a European manufacturer and retailer of nine consumer clothing and home brands that target senior citizens, has adopted Automox to improve software patching and endpoint management.

According to Automox, the company ditched manual patching, which can be inefficient and “fragmented”, to streamline and automate processes, improving both operations and security.

“As a leading European distributor of clothing for seniors, Damartex stands at the forefront of retail innovation, with a strong market presence in France, Britain, Belgium, and Switzerland,” the vendor claimed.

Damartex sought a centralised, user-friendly platform that would help them speed up software update rollout across the network, more easily keeping endpoints up to date with security requirements.

“Employees used an array of third-party software management tools, resulting in inconsistencies in patch deployment,” Automox explains in a case study. “The lack of uniformity led to incomplete patching, raising concerns about security and systems stability.”

Automox Worklets also allowed Damartex’s IT team to create custom scripts for recurring problems and enhanced the team’s PowerShell skills. This shored up technical expertise while simplifying software management, according to the vendor.

With Automox, Damartex improved its IT management by reducing the time and effort spent on manual patching. At the same time, moving to a centralised platform provided uniformity across various systems, boosting consistency and system stability, it said.

In other Automox case studies, deployment of automated patch management was able to slash the time spent patching by 50%.

For example, before Automox, manufacturer Tractor and Equipment (T&E) used many services to manage the IT environment.

“(Previously) the Symantec anti-virus console lost idle devices, Cisco Meraki gave them application lists but didn’t export cleanly, and SCCM patch management was tough to maintain if the endpoints weren’t local,” according to the vendor.

T&E needed to see which endpoints were being patched, especially if they sat idle for a long time, while field technicians needed to maintain connectivity with their endpoints, even without VPN, it said.

“The team members say they’re able to complete exponentially more tasks in their day but have cut down on time spent on patching by about 50%.”
