TechSmith introduces Camtasia 2022 for faster, enhanced video creation

Corporate content producers will enjoy new features in Camtasia 2022 set to speed up and enhance video editing and creation, according to TechSmith.

Wendy Hamilton, chief executive at TechSmith, said the company strives to make Camtasia the best video editor available for subject matter experts with less time to learn video editing.

“The new Camtasia 2022 makes it faster and easier to create training and educational videos while also providing fabulous new effects for software demo videos,” Hamilton said in the official announcement.

“In the hybrid workplace, we all need video to enhance our daily communication.”

According to the announcement, transitions, templates, elements, and features, such as Blend Mode, make it easier to quickly create professional-looking, engaging videos.

Blend Mode is a new feature that allows users to blend footage from two different media types — such as footage, video or B-roll — in their videos, for customising ‘cinema’-like effects.

Also, in Camtasia 2022, videos can now be sent to TechSmith Audiate for automatic transcription, which can then be edited like text, with all changes synced, the vendor said.

Other new features include new cursor functionality, new transitions, Spotlight for Windows users, Outline Edges for Windows users, a streamlined export process for Windows users and a new home screen, alongside additional templates and customisable elements.

TechSmith has sponsored research that it says demonstrates the importance of using video at work.

Respondents to the survey confirmed that acquiring new skills or knowledge for professional purposes is a key reason for seeking instructional or informational videos, followed by gaining knowledge on a specific topic.

Most respondents also confirmed watching instructional or informational videos in a professional context at least once a month, with about half saying they did so once a week, according to TechSmith.
