Open the gate to SharePoint anywhere with ShareGate and Microsoft

ShareGate and Microsoft 365 users are invited to a live webinar on Thursday 14 April on how to manage SharePoint to ensure smooth day to day operations.

In the 10am (ET) session, ShareGate community engagement manager Larry St-Pierre will be joined by Drew Madelung, a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP), to deliver “actionable advice” on SharePoint management.

“Drew works with clients to develop and deploy comprehensive solutions on SharePoint and Microsoft 365, from architecture and design to rollout, adoption, and governance planning,” says the ShareGate team.

The session will suit anyone who has deployed SharePoint Online and is wondering about their next steps. In addition, the webinar will outline this year’s expected changes in SharePoint and delve into how these are expected to affect user organisations, according to ShareGate.

The vendor promises to explain how to administer SharePoint Online “like a pro” and examine best practice on SharePoint provisioning and governance — including understanding SharePoint’s structure for better management of the environment.

“Our internal data shows a significant increase in external sharing. Considering the rise in cybercrime, you need to stay in control of the who, what, where, and when of external sharing without hindering user productivity,” notes ShareGate in a blog.

The vendor adds that some settings for Groups, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint overlap with each other, particularly related to sharing and group or team site creation.

Attendees will also hear how to reorganise and restructure their content for more advanced collaborations, according to ShareGate.

SharePoint is a platform for collaborative file editing and sharing via SharePoint team and communication sites, including a document library with version control.

Files can be shared within teams, across an organisation, or with external partners, so particular attention should be paid to retention policies, sensitivity labels and communication with end users or external parties.

By ensuring the appropriate information architectures and management sit “at the crux” of governance strategies for Microsoft SharePoint, IT admins can more easily and securely manage user access and requirements — wherever workers are based.
