Foxit shines up SDK and steps into e-signatures

PDF software company Foxit has launched an e-signature service — positioning itself to ultimately compete with digital contract and e-document management specialists such as DocuSign.

According to an announcement on TechRadar, Foxit Sign will deliver legally binding e-signature workflows for digital contracts, agreements and forms.

Frank Kettenstock, chief marketing officer at Foxit, said the company had also rolled its PhantomPDF brands into one product label — Foxit PDF Editor — covering Windows, Mac, mobile and cloud applications.

“You can conduct business digitally in a way that suits you. We wanted to convey that simplicity and universal experience,” Kettenstock claimed.

In other news, Foxit has launched Foxit PDF SDK 8.0 for developers, adding collaboration and accessibility features.

Albano Moura, product line manager for developer solutions at Foxit, said it worked with “100% of PDF files” across all standards and had been deployed across sectors from banking, engineering and insurance to healthcare.

“Collaboration capabilities have been added that synchronise annotations and page manipulation among multiple instances of the PDF viewer in your browser. The new version has also made it easier to deploy the SDK in a developer’s own application and manage real-time access for any user,” according to the announcement.

Developers will also be able to control access and permissions of PDFs and disable functionality and toolbar buttons in the latest version.”
