ShareGate speeds up our SharePoint migrations, confirms VAR

Ohio, US-based VAR Avvenire has been able to ease SharePoint migration pains for its customers using an application from ShareGate, according to a company case study.

Doug Punchak, application development manager at Avvenire Solutions, says more customers have been asking for Microsoft 365 and SharePoint migrations.

Using ShareGate Desktop, migration times have been reduced by around 15%, he says.

“Many are running on older versions and know they need to upgrade; some want it as part of a move to the cloud; others are integrating acquisitions or responding to divestitures,” Punchak confirms. “The effort would quadruple if we had to do everything manually.”

Avvenire customers include utility companies, manufacturers and financial services firms.

ShareGate Desktop allows migrations to be done over a weekend, with the new environment up and running on Monday. Punchak manages the throttling limitations of new tenants transparently and in the background, so migration speeds are automatically optimised.

Source analysis reporting before a migration can identify breaks in site inheritance, unused content, and orphaned user accounts. Also, the software doesn’t need to be installed on the server or on-site installation or configuration.

Avvenire now uses ShareGate Desktop across most SharePoint migrations, whether the job is an upgrade to a newer version, a move to the cloud, or a tenancy challenge.

ShareGate also offers assistance with managing other applications, including Microsoft Teams. Microsoft MVP Jasper Oosterveld explains how to manage the Teams lifecycle in this free video.
