Channel to enjoy growth in patch management sales: Orbis Research

Research from Orbis has forecast growth across the patch management tool market in the years to 2031 — suggesting prospects for multiple vendors such as Automox, GFI, Paessler, Kaseya and others.

Demand for greater efficiency and productivity as well as changes in customer preferences and technology improvements all contribute to the rising need, according to a summary press announcement by Orbis analysts.

Cloud-based and on-premise toolkits for both SMBs and the enterprise are set for annual growth rates, a conclusion supported by Orbis’ “thorough examination” of all the variables affecting the market, it said.

“Based on the research done for the global patch management tool market, it is projected that the market will expand significantly over the course of the next year. The anticipated expansion rate is predicted to exceed the average growth rate for the sector,” according to the Orbis summary.

The summary did not say how much growth overall was to be expected — full details are only available to subscribers.

However, the potential for market expansion would be further boosted by the growing client base and new business prospects, the announcement said.

The rise of tools such as machine learning can help develop more sophisticated, efficient, easier to use toolkits for businesses and applications, noted Orbis.

Cloud-native Automox for example expanded its remote control functionality and searchable Worklets catalogue as well as delivering a new dashboard and growing its list of supported third parties. Its ITops automation solutions include automated patch management across endpoints from Windows to Linux and macOS.

“IT teams today face a monumental task,” said Corey Bodzin, senior product VP at Automox, commenting on a recent announcement.

“They’re managing multiple operating systems for a complex workforce, and often doing it with limited resources. Add to that bloated tech stacks, and you can see how IT annoyances quickly turn into major business challenges – and growing costs.”

Orbis’ 2023 Trends analysis named Automox, Atera, GFI, Itarian, Ivanti, Kaseya, Kenna, ManageEngine, NinjaOne, Paessler, PDQ, Pulseway, SecPod, SolarWinds, SuperOps, SysAid, Sysward and Syxsense as key players, looking at strengths and weaknesses.
