N-able tracks travel emissions, expands e-waste disposal plan

Remote monitoring and management (RMM) software vendor N-able has filed its first environment, social and governance (ESG) report, highlighting new travel tracking and e-waste disposal initiatives.

John Pagliuca, chief executive at N-able, said the company places unified culture and shared values at the centre of what it does.

“We recognise that our corporate responsibility work is just beginning and look forward to sharing our ESG efforts each year,” Pagliuca said in the announcement.

The US company’s ‘rallying cry’ was “earn more fans, raise the bar” for communities and MSPs, he added.

According to the announcement, the firm is working to “optimise” energy consumption, integrating ESG concerns into its global expansion. Highlighted initiatives for 2022 included the start of business travel emissions tracking and a “responsible” offset-based e-waste disposal plan in the UK, it said.

Kathleen Pai, chief people officer at N-able, said the ESG report would be used to “spark more meaningful discussions and drive positive change”.

“We strive to be an exemplary company with a culture that supports our people, partners and the broader community,” she said in the announcement.

According to the N-able ESG Report 2022, released May 2023, the vendor’s “most frequently used” datacentre providers claimed 85% of their energy use in 2021 was based on renewables.

“We expect to work with a third-party during 2023 to measure our Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions, understand our usage, and consider ways we can reduce our carbon impact in preparation for our 2023 report,” the company added.

The company also moved to “renovate” its global collaboration hubs during the year using locally sourced materials where possible, the company said.

N-able’s report also focused on its “diversity, equality and belonging” efforts, such as supporting the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, asexual, and related others (LGBTQIA+) community and “employees of colour” and encouraging staff to perform volunteer work for non-profit organisations.

It also further developed in-house training for staff.

The company added in its announcement of the report that it has established an ESG working group and is tracking compliance including with the ISO 27001 standard and its usual privacy-by-design, incident response and cybersecurity programmes. that assist partners and customers.

N-able targets services providers with RMM offerings to secure systems, data, and networks that suit SMBs with limited resources, emerging companies, and up, including N-able N-sight RMM and N-able N-central.
