What’s new in ITSM in 2023? SolarWinds pinpoints outdated practices

IT teams and systems admins keen to develop their IT services management (ITSM) practices in line with leading emerging trends are invited to join a webinar with SolarWinds on 12 January 2023.

According to Peter Di Stefano, principal product marketing manager at SolarWinds, many of the ITSM solutions out there are outdated.

“They were developed before self-service, automation, and more modern cloud-based platforms. The issue has been exacerbated by increased IT complexity and a dispersed workforce,” he said.

Di Stefano invites IT professionals to join him at 1830 on 12 January for 30 minutes for an update on the top three ITSM trends for 2023, including how SolarWinds aims to tackle these with its portfolio of observability focused monitoring and management applications, including the cloud-based Service Desk.

SolarWinds Service Desk, according to the vendor, can assist organisations to simplify their daily IT tasks, connect with employees and foster greater productivity by integrating asset management and service management in the one platform.

According to SolarWinds, full-stack observability has become critical for organisations building modern applications and services on cloud platforms like AWS, especially with the increased complexity of enterprise IT and resulting need for automation, including of the help desk itself.

This can enable distributed tracing, log management, and database performance, with alerting focused on service level objectives (SLOs) and service level agreements (SLAs) to understand downtime and latency.

For instance, more organisations expected to focus on devops capabilities, according to the vendor. Spending on improving observability of the IT environment can improve application quality and delivery timeframes, resulting in better decision-making and productivity down the track.
