Customers comparing the hundreds of learning management systems (LMS) should select them by customisation, reporting, authoring and onboarding ability, pricing and ease-of-use, vendor iSpring has confirmed.
Nicola Wylie, blogging for LMS vendor iSpring Solutions, said that the fast-growing corporate training market means there are around 15 leading vendors today.
“LMS software has emerged as the number-one corporate training tool. But with over 700 LMS vendors on the market, choosing the right one for your business can be a daunting task,” Wylie noted.
Wylie said some applications are more suited to SMBs, others large enterprises. Also, customisation functionality varies across all 15 leading brands.
Docebo is a popular option for large businesses, for example.
“The e-commerce with Stripe integration makes it a great LMS solution for enterprises wanting to sell subscriptions to their courses,” Wylie said.
Of course, Wylie said iSpring Learn was one of the best for smaller businesses, incorporating employee onboarding, compliance training and ‘soft skills’ training capabilities.
Canvas was designed for education institutions although there is a business version; many features, such as grading assignments and essay writing, specifically target teachers, she said.
Wylie said that Adobe Captivate Prime can be a good choice for large businesses that want a user-friendly interface with some advanced features.
“This LMS is a good option for experienced L&D teams who want to create experiential learning at scale. However, since there is a strong learning curve with this tool, it’s not a viable option for beginners,” she claimed.
TalentLMS suits blended employee training approaches incorporating onboarding and continuous learning within businesses and academic institutions. According to Wylie, it can also be a “good fit” for organisations seeking to monetise online training.
