Staff expect more flexible support in and beyond the workplace: GoTo survey

SMB IT teams are struggling with increasing challenges in managing a hybridised working environment, according to mobile connectivity software vendor GoTo — formerly LogMeIn.

Paddy Srinivasan, chief product and technology officer at GoTo, said smaller and midsize businesses have been lacking a simple, scalable, and achievable solution for the hybrid and remote working world.

“But, as data tells us time and time again, businesses can’t run without the right people and tools in place to enable their organisation to work productively from anywhere,” Srinivasan said in a web post.

In the GoTo-sponsored survey by Frost & Sullivan, 76% of respondents suggested the workload of IT workers had increased due to the adoption of flexible work models, with 43% agreeing that IT jobs have become more difficult.

Additionally, businesses were now evaluating service duplications among their remote tools and 95% of respondent companies indicated plans to consolidate their tools in 2022, it found.

GoTo’s enterprise-grade technology combines unified communications and support solutions in one affordable application targeting SMBs. Its multiple mobile connectivity products include GoTo Connect, which provides a unified-communication-as-a-service (UCaaS) experience, and Central for remote, automated computer access and management.

According to Srinivasan, GoTo is directly responding to the needs of its SMB customers. “We want to partner with SMBs to create a truly sustainable, resilient, and future-proof work from anywhere strategy,” he said.

The study also found that hybrid and remote work models can lead to more productivity and positive impacts on company culture, according to GoTo.

Other findings include that staff turnover is lower in a hybrid model (22%) than with 100% remote working (43%) or fully office-based environments (44%).

Management also seems to prefer a hybrid approach — 16% of top management with a fully remote work policy would prefer to move to a hybrid model according to the survey, and 23% of leaders within office-bound organisations would prefer at least some level of remote working, GoTo said in its blog post.
