CIOs, IT leaders need more support for digital transformation: Snow

More modernisation is in the works but IT needs support from other business units, according to Snow Software‘s second annual IT leader study.

“Despite the digital transformation momentum spurred by the pandemic, or maybe because of it, IT leaders need more support,” the cloud intelligence vendor reported in its executive summary.

“Meeting this demand and accelerating modernisation initiatives requires a holistic approach,

and 89% say more help from business leaders is needed.”

Snow’s 2022 IT Priorities Report quizzed some 1000 IT executives in the UK, USA, Germany, Australia and India on roles and expectations for IT departments in the enterprise.

For more than one in four respondents, adopting new technology to improve day-to-day operations while reducing IT costs or improving customer service and satisfaction are expected to be key this year.

The “reshaping” spurred along by the pandemic is expected to continue but with more forethought and strategy on how to improve business outcomes.

“IT leaders will go from asking ‘how do we keep working?’ to ‘what does our business need to truly excel?’,” according to the Snow report.

The focus on cloud is also expected to continue, with another 20% of organisations, particularly in Germany, confirming they have plans for cloud adoption.

Other findings included that many respondents felt that IT roles had been undervalued prior to Covid-19 but were increasingly understood as essential.

Nine in ten also confirmed they had become seen as trusted advisers, which was likely connected to the requirement for increased digital transformation.

“Another 94% say that innovation is a top priority for their organisation,” the vendor said.

“They also say they are challenged to deliver innovation and spend too much time reacting to problems (71%).”

Snow looks to provide organisations with insights into their software, SaaS, hardware and cloud implementations, facilitating resource optimisation in hybrid environments.
