N-able marks growth of Microsoft 365 backup sales among channel partners

N-able has hailed take-up of its backup and recovery offering for Microsoft 365 among channel partners.

According to the remote management and monitoring (RMM) vendor, around 4,000 N-able partners have taken on N-able Backup for Microsoft 365 since it launched the product in 2019.

Via partners, this represents implementations for around 25,000 Microsoft 365 customer domains and about 900,000 Exchange mailboxes, it said.

Chris Groot, general manager for N-able Backup, noted that customers and prospects now see Microsoft 365 backup as a requirement, rather than an option.

“The conversation has shifted from questioning whether they should back up SaaS workloads, and is now focused on which vendor best fits their needs,” Groot said in the announcement.

Groot believed the integrated user experience, combining a single view over Microsoft 365, server, and workstation data protection workloads, has been proving a real differentiator for N-able.

N-able Backup for Microsoft 365 aims to help customers recover data quickly post-incident and retain data for longer, according to the vendor.

The focus is managing backup and restore of Microsoft 365 data from the same dashboard used to protect servers, workstations, and critical business documents.

An Enterprise Strategy Group report in mid-2021 found that 33% of respondents had lost data or information that was stored in the cloud, up from 18% in 2020.

Data losses are common, occurring via multiple routes including cyberattack, service failures, and — most of all — human error.
