Slash paper and manual processes — to save the NHS (and other organisations)

Millions of pounds are wasted annually on paper-intensive manual processes in the UK public sector, according to e-signature and contract lifecycle management specialists at DocuSign.

DocuSign’s latest whitepaper calls for governments to focus on citizens and patients, with NHS Trusts as well as local and central government bodies set to gain from slashing paper-intensive manual handling processes.

“Every year millions of pounds are spent on paper-intensive, manual processes in the public sector,” DocuSign noted.

“NHS trusts, local and central government can leverage technology to overcome challenges while driving efficiency, reducing waste and improving service quality.”

Paperless processes can streamline activities such as data handling and record keeping by working with business applications, such as enterprise resource planning, office productivity suites and business intelligence.

DocuSign believes that digitalisation can also help many organisations meet their carbon emissions commitments.

DocuSign has teamed up with partners including Aberdeen-based cloud provider Inoapps to deepen e-signature integrations with Oracle software, for instance.

While DocuSign has standard integrations between its products and some Oracle products, many other on-prem and cloud products do not yet have standard integrations, according to Inoapps CEO Andy Bird.

“We aim to become the go-to partner for any company that wants to make their DocuSign eSignature and Oracle products interoperate, when someone needs a standard integration that does not exist yet,” Bird said.

October saw DocuSign expand a tie-up with CRM giant Salesforce on contract collaboration through popular messaging platform Slack.

According to DocuSign’s announcement, the expanded partnership will offer new ways to ease contract, quote, and invoicing processes — including tracking and enforcement around contract terms.

The company promised to enable users to manage “the entire contract lifecycle management (CLM) process” efficiently across DocuSign, Salesforce, and Slack platforms. New applications will be developed jointly in Salesforce Customer 360 as well.
