Stormshield unveils encryption integration for Google workspaces

Infrastructure cybersecurity vendor Stormshield has teamed up with Google to improve encryption and data security for organisations using Google’s cloud applications, such as Google Docs.

The new product, Stormshield Data Security (SDS) for Google Workspace (formerly G Suite), integrates with the client-side encryption feature developed by Google to protect “all types” of content and communications hosted via the likes of Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Slides and Google Meet, according to the announcement.

“SDS for Google Workspace allows the use of independent keys to encrypt data, on the client side, before it is sent to the Google servers. Companies thus retain full control over the confidentiality of their data, which is indecipherable to Google’s servers,” according to Stormshield’s Jocelyn Krystlik.

SDS for Google Workspace offers its users cloud-based or on-premise management of encryption keys, as well as connection to an identity management service used to access these keys.”

The news follows Stormshield’s announcement of a partnership with Nozomi Networks around cybersecurity targeting the intersection of operations tech (OT) and IT, including Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

The vendor unveiled a new ruggedised firewall for civil and military deployments, the SNxr1200 firewall for critical environments, in September. The new firewall and unified threat management (UTM) appliance is designed in harsh environments, including aerospace and maritime installation.

Stormshield is holding a webinar on SDS for Google Workspace on 23 November – click here to register.
