Zyxel 5G repeaters to help fix mobile coverage problems for SMBs

Zyxel is targeting the SMB-focused channel with two new 5G mobile repeaters aimed at solving flaky mobile network coverage for smaller organisations.

Crowley Wu, senior vice president at Zyxel, indicated in the official announcement that the move should help channel partners improve the poor mobile reception that many organisations and individuals suffer worldwide.

“Zyxel’s two new repeaters not only overcome the challenges of a weak mobile signal but do so in a simple and cost-effective way, making these ideal for IT channel partners to pave the in-building mobile market and create new revenue streams,” Wu said.

The patented MagicOffice and MultiSite commercial repeaters’ simple set-up make for easy ongoing maintenance and enhancements while helping fix dropped calls, slow data speeds and poor reception in commercial venues, multi-story buildings and underground spaces, he said.

Improving mobile coverage can help improve productivity in increasingly connectivity-reliant and distributed workplaces — as well as reduce the chance of customer complaints.

Traditional repeaters often take up a lot of space and are complicated to set up, according to Zyxel.

“Zyxel’s MagicOffice and MultiSite commercial repeaters overcome these challenges. Both solutions will automatically detect the isolation figure, give optimal gain, and readjust regularly to match any changes,” the company said.

MagicOffice Repeater suits small offices or commercial venues of up to 900m², with MultiSite Repeater targeting buildings with multiple floors covering up to 25,200m² and cascading across up to seven nodes via coaxial cables. Both can be centrally managed, the vendor said.

“Compared to most products that require at least three to four-bar mobile signal strength outdoors to work, Zyxel’s solutions will work from a two to three-bar signal,” according to the announcement.

“For situations with very poor, one-bar signal strength or in dead zone areas within buildings or tunnels, the MultiSite Repeater also works with Zyxel’s patented SymmRepeaterEnterprise to boost signals.”
