Snow Software offers Atlas for managing hybrid enterprise assets

Understanding and managing hybrid infrastructures with Snow has taken another step forward with its Atlas integrated platform.

Vishal Rao, president and chief executive at Snow, said software asset management (SAM), software as a service (SaaS) management and IT service management (ITSM) capabilities were all being provided for in the Azure-based cloud-native platform.

“The platform is a new way for the hybrid enterprise to manage cost, minimise risk and optimise technology investments,” Rao said in the official announcement.

“We view Snow Atlas as the foundation for future innovation that supports the evolving needs of our customers.”

He also said that Snow was boosting its overall investment in product development, looking to attract more on-prem and cloud-based customers for its discovery, monitoring and optimisation toolsets.

Snow Atlas includes self-service features such as self-healing for locked or disconnected services, real-time agent creation, end-user management, single sign-on activation and in-app guidance, according to Snow.

SAM on Snow Atlas — now available in an early-access version — would help customers spend less on tech, enabling access and licenses to be reassigned as required and potentially reducing the risk of compliance and security issues.

The vendor will continue to offer options for on-prem and partner hosted services, it said.

Sanjay Castelino, chief product officer at Snow, has said that Snow Atlas offers customers a new delivery model as well as a more integrated tech roadmap.

“With SAM on Snow Atlas, you can gain visibility into blind spots in your technology environment such as desktop installs, datacentre activities and SaaS sprawl,” he wrote in a blog post.

The agent-based platform can remove the need for multiple offerings to address asset management problems. Customers gain insights and suggests approaches into technology usage and spend related to subscription levels, renewals or new digital initiatives.

Customers can use the platform to identify software vulnerabilities and applications that hold personal data, helping minimise cybersecurity and compliance risk.

The Snow Atlas platform was built on a microservices architecture and with standardised APIs too. IT admins would also be able to use Snow Atlas self-service capabilities to create, configure and deploy inventory agents via standard internal software distribution channels and processes.
