SentryOne-SolarWinds merger bears fruit with Database Insights for SQL Server

SolarWinds has already used its takeover of SentryOne to boost its database performance analysis and monitoring capabilities, according to a Database Trends and Applications (DBTA) editorial by Joyce Wells.

Wells pointed to SolarWinds’ launch of its Database Insights for SQL Server as an early harvest from the merged organisation, uniting the features of SolarWinds’ Database Performance Analyzer and SQL Sentry — which was SentryOne’s flagship product.

“Database Insights for SQL Server provides the in-depth performance and environmental data that teams need to optimise the performance of Microsoft SQL Server and other leading database platforms running on-premises, in the cloud, or in hybrid environments,” according to Wells.

SolarWinds acquired SentryOne in late 2020. Database Insights for SQL Server combines DPA’s database anomaly detection capabilities with SQL Sentry performance intel with a view to identifying and fixing database problems faster.

“Database Insights extends beyond SQL Server to provide some of the broadest database coverage available in the industry, managing the performance of more than 20 database platforms, from on-premises to in the cloud,” Wells claimed.

In related news, TrustRadius named nine SolarWinds ITOM products across 13 categories as 2021 Top Rated award winners — including SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer (DPA) and SQL Sentry for database and SQL Server performance monitoring.

SolarWinds DPA and SQL Sentry were also nominated in the Best Database Management Software of 2021 category.

Rohini Kasturi, chief product officer at SolarWinds, said the vendor aims to become the best-in-class provider of IT operations management solutions, including becoming the top choice for database performance management.

“Through the last six months, our teams across all departments have worked tirelessly to support our customers, assist in securing the safety of their environments, and ensure the integrity of our products,” Kasturi said in the related press announcement.
