Simplify the balancing act for cloud security MSPs, says Censornet

Point products for cloud security are myriad but typically only address a fraction of an array of potential cyber threats, so how do MSPs go about choosing the right ones?

Neil Walker, field and channel marketing manager at Censornet, says one alternative is consolidation in one platform. This can also simplify rule and policy creation and management.

Relying on multiple admin interfaces and dashboards encourages multi-tasking — a relatively inefficient way to work.

“Also, a single management console can handle different security functions, while sharing within each unique customer instance the same common database of threats, targets, identities, states, and contexts.”

Censornet vice president of channels and alliances Charles Milton notes that each security point product typically has its own ‘database’ of threats and targets.

Each time a rule or policy is changed there is an opportunity for human error or a misconfiguration to create a security ‘gap’, he notes.

Additional management screens also add complexity and cost; even a highly skilled MSP team can struggle to extract actionable intelligence from avalanches of event and alert data.

“Partitioning the MSP environment to create unique customer instances with tailored visibility, alerts and control based on role (role-based access control), is one of the key benefits of a consolidated MSP-centric platform,” Milton adds.

The Censornet cloud security platform integrates email security, web security, cloud access security broker (CASB) and adaptive multi-factor authentication (MFA) in one interface.

Also, it offers ‘child accounts’ customised with separate policies to suit local legislative and regulatory compliance requirements, including data protection and privacy laws, says Milton.
