TeamViewer adds Salesforce AppExchange AR update

Connectivity platform specialist TeamViewer has added support for augmented reality (AR) to its Salesforce AppExchange integration — meaning that TeamViewer users can now launch AR support sessions from within Salesforce.com.

Alfredo Patron, executive vice president of business development at TeamViewer, said that some real-world problems require a support team logging in remotely to be able to see the same phenomenon as the person “on the frontline” asking for help.

“Users can now initiate TeamViewer Pilot sessions empowering technicians and frontline workers using AR to help anyone, anywhere,” according to the announcement.

“It empowers customers to create TeamViewer Service Cases and provide remote support right from Salesforce cases, contacts, accounts, leads as well as any other custom Salesforce object.”

Support agents, specialists and frontline workers can initiate AR connections to internal users or external customers directly from various Salesforce objects and connect to on-site technicians via TeamViewer Pilot to help configure hardware and assist with physical tasks.

Permission sets have also been updated, alongside a series of user enhancements.

User organisations will need Salesforce licensing and a compatible TeamViewer Tensor plan.

TeamViewer Tensor recently added co-browsing, a mobile software development kit (SDK) and AR support, with additional secure remote and home office capabilities to come.

Alexander Post, director of product management at TeamViewer, said: “With the mobile SDK and the co-browsing function, we can offer innovative and GDPR-compliant possibilities.”

Oliver Steil, chief executive officer at TeamViewer, said the core of the 15-year-old German company’s mission is bridging distance and the ability to provide immediate, uncomplicated help with its software.

“TeamViewer runs on almost any device, from smartphones to industrial robots, on all relevant operating systems. This universal applicability is unique and the basis for the digitalisation of work processes in all industries and companies of all sizes,” Steil said.

TeamViewer has been installed 2.5 billion times with more than 560,000 paying subscription customers. It is looking to further growth in wearables and AR software in industrial settings or IoT deployments, as well as integrations with the likes of Microsoft, Salesforce and ServiceNow.
