Documentation challenges? You’re doing it wrong, says Nitro

Research by Nitro suggests that the state of document workflows, processes and tools across the average enterprise leaves a lot to be desired – and knowledge workers are suffering as a result.

Just three percent of knowledge workers indicate they’re happy with the way documents are managed at their companies, according to the survey.

Employee satisfaction has knock-on effects for customer experience, so if they’re struggling with paper-based processes or laborious workflows, the ultimate impact is on the bottom line, Nitro confirms.

“Many CIOs I speak with aren’t aware of how much the lack of digital document tools is truly impacting their business,” said Sam Chandler, CEO and founder of Nitro.

“Not only can digitisation help companies improve the way they manage and process documents and help workers be more productive, but the positive impact it can have on employee satisfaction and customer experience is undeniable.”

Key findings

*97 percent of knowledge workers see room for improvement in how their companies handle documents

*68 percent say the way their companies handle electronic documents helps productivity

*23 percent of knowledge workers are working over 40 hours a week, and nearly half work with at least six documents a day on average. Those working with over 10 documents a day reported the highest levels of stress

*Knowledge workers perform an average of seven different actions when working with documents, with a majority performed multiple times throughout the day

*53 percent are still printing documents multiple times per day

*48 percent still sign or approve paper documents

*92 percent of those who don’t feel productive at work are ‘extremely likely’ to have recently explored a job change
