Gartner hails Delinea as PAM leader for six years in a row

Delinea continued to lead in the privileged access management (PAM) space in 2024, according to Gartner.

According to Gartner’s Magic Quadrant PAM market analysis, Delinea stood head and shoulders above most rivals — marking the sixth consecutive year that the vendor was a leader in PAM.

“Delinea’s customers consistently commend the user-friendly nature of its products. It offers unified engines and connectors to a single management plane and comprehensive coverage on health reporting,” Gartner analysts reported.

In addition to customer experience, Delinea also rated highly for its overall viability and geographical strategy. Also, its products came in for specific praise.

“Delinea has a very competent privilege evaluation and delegation management (PEDM) offering for UNIX/Linux,” the analysts said.

Of the nine vendors in the PAM Gartner Magic Quadrant for 2024, Delinea was one of just three Leaders highly ranked for ability to execute as well as on completeness of vision.

At the same time, organisations need to deploy PAM alongside solutions such as multi-factor authentication (MFA) to ensure secure administrative access. Persistence Market Research forecasts the global PAM market as enjoying a 21% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) to almost $23 billion by 2033.

Also, Gartner estimated PAM market growth of 10% from 2023-2024.

More about Delinea as a leader in PAM

Delinea’s PAM comes bundled as the Delinea Platform. Under that SaaS umbrella sit privileged account and session management (PASM), PEDM, remote privileged access management (RPAM), and cloud infrastructure entitlement management (CIEM) capabilities.

Delinea acquired Authomize in 2024 to bolster its CIEM. Also in early 2024, the vendor bought FastPath, focusing on its just-in-time (JIT) and lifecycle management.

“[And] revenue and customer count growth were high, among all vendors included in this research,” Gartner noted.

“PAM products are now mainstream. Many vendors added advanced functionalities in the past year, either through native product expansions or strategic acquisitions.”

In summary, PAM tools aim to deliver improved yet secure technical access through managing accounts, credentials and commands.

Gartner defines privileged access as more than standard user access to systems or applications. Therefore it permits users to make changes to multiple users or systems, potentially overriding existing controls and configurations. Key principles include zero trust and least privilege.

“Users must have the right level of access to the right resource for the right reason, at the right time,” the analysts wrote.
