Agreement management critical to organisation productivity: report

A global survey by Deloitte for agreement management provider Docusign has showcased how contract and deal management workflows can drive value.

Accordingly, the report found that organisations today face complex agreement dynamics. For example, a growing number of technical partners and a more “contingent” workforce.

“Seventy-seven percent of leaders in high-performing organisations credited agreement management with positioning them to outperform in core business areas,” it said.

“Value is unlocked by removing friction within the organisation, optimising workflows, standardising contracts, and providing proactive insights.”

Last year’s report estimated that some $2 trillion (£1.5trn) could be wasted worldwide by inefficient agreement processes and systems. Docusign suggests this can be reclaimed with intelligent agreement management.

Therefore this year about 1,400 business leaders across 14 countries were asked questions about the technology. And the respondents confirmed it can be a lever for organisational productivity and growth.

Benefits of agreement management highlighted

Consequently, 85% of these respondents said agreement management contributed to their strategic goals. Also, 82% indicated it helped with customer experience.

In addition, 72% said this technology helped deliver to financial goals.

“Nearly every function in the study credits core agreement management capabilities. Contract creation and customer experience help them perform better,” the report said.

“However, functions [also] derive significant value from agreement analytics and enterprise integration capabilities.”

At the same time, organisations invested in and continued to consider AI solutions. Leaders expect AI, automation and analytics for best results. For example by making it easier to tap into historical performance data to analyse costs, risks and customer relationships.

Survey respondents hailed from organisations with 125-20,000 employees. Nine industries were represented. Also, they were director-level staff with roles ranging from sales, procurement and customer experience to human resources, legal and IT.

Docusign IAM 2025.1 launched in April with enhanced AI and automation capabilities as well as new workspaces and templates.
