Foxit PDF editor centres AI-powered tab for productivity

Foxit, an e-documentation software specialist, has unveiled an AI-driven tab right on the top toolbar in its PDF editor offering.

According to the vendor, the tab boosts worker productivity. Instead of AI included as a “hidden or secondary” feature, the vendor is presenting it as core to the user interface.

Evan Reiss, a head of marketing at Foxit, said the change signalled an advance in human-AI collaboration.

“Others are still bolting on AI features,” Reiss said. “Foxit is architecting an AI-first user experience.”

Consequently, users would interact with the software differently, and therefore also with documents.

Additions to PDF Editor and AI Assistant

In addition, the feature represented a “significant upgrade” to Foxit’s AI Assistant for its PDF Editor offering.

Accordingly, the new tab in the ribbon or top toolbar streamlined access to Foxit’s suite of AI-driven tools. The vendor says this can improve document management workflows.

“The enhanced AI Assistant includes powerful features such as chat with image, multiple document analysis, automatic bookmarking, and additional read-aloud options,” Foxit said.

With the AI help in Foxit, users can describe images or upload them to extract image text which can then be translated into different languages.

Also, users can extract various details and simultaneously compare multiple PDFs.

Additionally, the AI can help users navigate. organise and bookmark documents.

“And documents can now be read aloud with improved voice options, enabling hands-free review and improved accessibility,” the vendor said.

Foxit focuses on PDF and eSignature products and services, including desktop software, mobile apps, and cloud services that allow users to create, edit, fill, and sign documents. It boasts around 640,000 customer organisations of all sizes.
