Delinea unveils further capabilities in identity security, including for AI threats

Identity security management vendor Delinea is rolling out more tools expected to help organisations manage AI adoption. This includes for preventing AI threats or unsanctioned use.

Delinea senior vice president of product management Jon Kuhn said attackers increasingly target non-human machine identities. Of course, more organisations are adopting AI.

“They face a massive and often ignored security gap. The number of these machine identities are expected to grow exponentially,” Kuhn added.

Delinea says perhaps 46 non-human identities exist for every human identity.

In total, Delinea expects the number, including service accounts and the like, to exceed 45 billion this year. In addition, attackers are deploying more sophisticated ransomware.

The report predicts increased AI threats. For example, phishing attacks, with cybercriminals using AI to make more convincing emails, the vendor added.

Meanwhile, Delinea is unveiling various anti-AI threats capabilities.

“Vault AI brings clarity and control to how AI is accessed and used with the power of an enterprise-grade vault,” said Delinea.

Therefore, with Vault AI, organisations can automate and simplify AI credential access, management, and password rotation.

In addition, Secure AI helps enforce and manage access controls on sensitive AI systems and infrastructure. Accordingly, users can apply least privilege to limit the spread of potential attacks or malfunctions.

So far, few solutions “evaluate and right-size” AI agent entitlements, the vendor said.

“The Delinea Platform’s new and planned Machine and AI solution capabilities will provide built-in guardrails.”

Discover AI from Q2 2025, is for identifying and securing unsanctioned use of AI. That includes shadow AI tools and machine identity sprawl, the vendor said. Meanwhile Delinea AI-Driven Authorization will follow in H2.

Also, Delinea recently announced a new pair-up with Microsoft.

As a result, customers would have continued access to cloud infrastructure entitlement management (CIEM) after Microsoft ends its Entra Permissions Management on 1 October.

Instead, customers could use Delinea’s Privilege Control for Cloud Entitlements (PCCE) offering to discover and secure all identities across Microsoft Azure, AWS, and GCP environments.
